The Senior Center in Charlottesville marked Memorial Day a little early. Thursday they held a flag ceremony.
Residents and veterans marched flags into an auditorium. One veteran said Memorial Day is an important chance to honor those who have died in the military.
"There were so many for so many wars who have given there life for our country and are still doing it to day. It's very important for people to remember that and honor those people who have gone" said Jackie Carroll, a resident.
More than 3,000 U.S. troops have died in the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan.
