The Commonwealth's Transportation Board will vote Tuesday on ways to deal with a budget shortfall in VDOT's six-year plan.

$7 million for Jarmans Gap Road, a key infrastructure project for the Crozet master plan, is among the cuts.

The project currently has an advertised date of January 20, 2011, but that's likely to change if the cuts are approved.

In all, there are $18 million in cuts planned for VDOT's Culpeper district.

An Albemarle County Supervisor tells the Newsplex that projects like Jarmans Gap won't exist in the future unless something is done at the state level about these cuts in transportation.

"There's been an indication from the new administration that they will not seek any new revenue sources, and that being the case, I don't see how transportation is going to do anything but decline over the next four years unless some different action is taken," says Albemarle County Supervisor Dennis Rooker, an Independent.

The meeting on transportation is scheduled for 6:00 pm Tuesday, Dec. 1st in Richmond.
