One local charity got a nice surprise Tuesday after receiving a check from the Party Parade.
This year the Party Parade presented a check to Community Children's Dental Center for $48,600. Each year the parade organizes a series of parties that people pay to attend from January until May.
Proceeds from the parties are then donated to a local charity, but the parade does more than just raise money.
"Just as important as the money raised is to create awareness about what the organization does" said Party Parade founder Zan Short.
The Party Parade started back in 1989. Next year, for the first time, they will donate to a variety of charities.
