The News Virginian reports that State Police have identified the injured trooper injured in a single-vehicle wreck over the weekend as W.R. Floyd. He was treated and released at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Slick roads over the weekend caused several accidents in Central Virginia, including one involving a State Trooper on Saturday.

Police told CBS19 that Floyd was headed to a wreck on Afton Mountain when he hit a patch of ice and lost control of his vehicle. The wreck happened at mile marker 103 on Interstate 64 westbound in Albemarle County. One lane of the road was closed while emergency crews worked to clear the accident scene.

In a separate wreck, one person was killed in a weather related accident in Nelson County Saturday. It happened on Rt. 250 near the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Police say the wreck involved a farm-use truck and a SUV. The driver of the truck was killed. The SUV driver was taken to University of Virginia Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Steven: Sounds like you have a good understanding of the law since you used to be a police officer. We know you are bitter, but there is no need to take it out on everyone else. The trooper was responding to the fatality acccident that they talk about in the article when the accident occurred. To everyone that is critical of him make sure you remember this when you need help and tell the 911 operator to tell the officer to drive slowly since you will be evaluating them on this blog if something happens while they are coming to help you.

Did he died?

Steven-We don't know the specifics here, so why are you so certain that the Trooper deserves a ticket??? Liam- I see your point, but at the same time I am glad there is nothing more important to take the place of this story. I am sad that the Trooper wrecked and hope he is doing well, but I'd much rather see this story, than a story of death...lets be glad that this story exists because there isn't anything worse to takes its place.
