The former Glenmore Country Club Executive Mike Comer, accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars, may be negotiating a plea deal.
Comer faced a judge in court briefly Monday morning. His attorney told the judge that he'd like to reach a plea agreement with the prosecution.
Outside the courtroom, neither Comer nor his attorney had much to say, only confirming that they're trying to reach some type of plea agreement.
Comer is charged with embezzling $650,000 dollars from the Glenmore Country Club in Albemarle County. Currently, Comer is out on bond.
Both the defense and prosecution are working together to come up with some type of plea agreement, otherwise Comer will be back in court in January to set a trial date.
Comer disappeared in early July 2009 in the midst of a financial audit of books he controlled as treasurer of the Glenmore Homeowners Association. Comer also worked as president of Glenmore Country Club and money flowed between the club and the homeowners. That audit revealed nearly $700,000 in missing funds.
Comer apparently went into hiding at Wintergreen, and employees told CBS19 that Comer was not staying at the Mountain Inn, but did travel to the Inn at Wintergreen to call his wife from a payphone. Wintergreen employees say Comer told his wife to call police and have them pick him up so he could turn himself in.

AGREED!!! This is NOT right! Mike Comer was trying to live beyond his means, and could not keep up. He would not have had to WORRY about nothing. His father inlaw left them pretty well off, I am sure. I do believe that he was trying to show his family (on his side) that he had money. He only had what his father inlaw had given to him.It is ALL GREED,and WHOEVER DIES WITH the MOST toys WINS!! SERVE IT! NO PLEA DEAL! SERVE IT! I would have too. just my opinion!
I totally agree with Dark Angel. WHY? Is it because they have $$$ they can ALWAYS get a Plea deal.. If this was a poor man that took $$ to feed his family, he would pull time. You got this PERSON that married into money, and could NOT control himself so he decides to STEAL! COME ON! I guess the OLD saying is TRUE "the MORE you have, the MORE WANT". The family is gonna pay it back and COP A PLEA to keep him out of jail. He needs to serve some time in the "pokey". He needs to see what it is to HAVE TO WORK, SCRAPE, and SAVE like ALL the rest of us.. BUT YOU just watch and see,,,, he will go home to his wife and kids, WHILE others that steal FAR LESS have to serve their time.
He is no better than the bank robber except he did not confront anyone for the money he just took it. Oh well lets make a plea bargain. Is this how it works? There are people in jail for embezzelling lot less than him I did not see any plea bargains on the table for them. A girl took a little over $1,600 dollars no record previously and had to pull weekends at the jail and pay restitution and a fine course she lost her job. There are people spending time in federal prisons for embezzling and they never could find where the money is and probably never will. This case will be interesting. Who's palms are going to be greased for this one?
