Governor Tim Kaine named Wednesday, June 7th as "Be a Hero for Babies" day in Virginia.
Even if you didn't get in step for the March of Dimes Walk America, you can still help families prevent premature births and birth defects. For the second year Farmers Insurance hopes to raise lots of money -- in just one day -- for the March for Dimes. Last year, Farmers raised more than a million dollars. This year they're on target for $2 Million.
Rodney Phillips with Farmers Insurance says, "It's all about community building healthy communities, healthy families and it all starts with our babies. We're about healthy communities, healthy families and so we have our own commitment and our own goal to make sure that we do our part to assist the March of Dimes."
According to the March of Dimes, 1 in 8 babies is born prematurely. You can help out and "be a hero for babies" by stopping by any Farmers Insurance agent's office and making a donation.
