The Barracks Road Shopping Center was packed with last minute shoppers Thursday afternoon. Many people visiting from out of town were hitting the various stores in search of the perfect Christmas gift.

"It's actually pretty crazy on Route 29, but once I got here, Michael's wasn't that busy at all. Parking is really bad though," said Charlotte Moss.

Shoppers say parking was difficult and traffic was heavy in and around Charlottesville shopping centers, but everyone had a smile on their face as they walked by the CBS19 cameras.

"We're having a lot of fun. It seems to be pretty busy, but everybody seems to be happy," said shopper Todd Williams.

Charlottesville Police also have extra patrol cars circling around City shopping centers to ensure people's belongings stay safe.
