A teenager remains in the hospital after her legs were severed after riding a ride at Six Flags Amusement Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
A witness says that the accident happened after a cable on the thrill ride "Superman Tower of Power" snapped. Officials say the 13-year-old's legs were severed right above the ankle. Officials are now investigating why the cable snapped.
Amusement park owners say that they will inspect similar rides as a precaution and that all drop tower rides will be closed.
The ride lifts riders 177 feet straight up and then drops them 154 feet reaching a speed of 54 miles per hour, according to the park's website. The park stayed open after the accident but the ride has been shut down indefinitely.
