Haiti's Ambassador to the U.S. made a visit to Charlottesville on Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Ambassador Raymond Joseph talked about Haiti's connection to the United States and how things are progressing there.
The church raised nearly $4,500 dollars, and nearly $10,000 in supplies for Haiti. The ambassador said there was one main message he wanted to pass along to the community and the country.
"Haiti, a poor nation, next door to the United States, needs your help. It's better to help Haiti now and keep the Haitians at home, instead of having them take their boats and trying to make it to Florida," said Ambassador Joseph.
At Sunday's news conference vice mayor Holly Edwards gave the ambassador a medal on behalf ot the city of Charlottesville.
