The Cavalier Inn on Emmett Street was in the dark for part of the evening Saturday, after a power outage left the hotel and their guests without lights or heat.

According to Dominion, a snow plow reportedly filled a grate housing underground transformers with snow. The snow caused a power outage to the entire hotel.

Dominion worked with the Charlottesville Fire Department to restore the electricity.

Mark Shifflett, an underground linesman for Dominion reminds folks to be careful when working around high voltage.

"Anytime you fool with electricity, it's going to be dangerous. We urge people, if they see a problem, report it and let us deal with it."

The guests at the Cavalier Inn were not considered to be in danger.

The Charlottesville Fire Deparment says power has been restored.
