Route 622 To Close At The Hardware River

Beginning Monday, July 9, the Virginia Department of Transportation will close a portion of Route 622 (Albevanna Spring Road) in Fluvanna County to through traffic to replace the bridge over the Hardware River, half a mile from Route 1302 near the Albemarle County line.

The road will remain accessible to local residents on both sides of the bridge and is expected to reopen Friday, July 13 in the afternoon.

Crews working for the Virginia Department of Transportation will replace the existing bridge with new steel beams and a timber deck, increasing the current 4-ton rating to 18 tons.

Signs will be placed advising motorists of the road closure.
