CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY SCHOOLS

Charlottesville City Schools announced make-up days for those lost because of snow will begin next week.

Students will not have their Presidents Day break and instead will go to school Feb. 15 (Presidents Day) and Feb. 16. School will also be in session March 12, April 2 and June 14.

School officials said if there is another snow day for this year, the make-up day will be on Memorial Day, May 31.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY SCHOOLS

Albemarle County School leaders announced Wednesday evening that students will now go to class well into June to make up for nine missed days so far in 2010.

The scheduled make up days are Feb. 16, March 12, and June 11, 14-17.

The school board met Thursday and decided students will also go to class on Monday, Feb. 15 (Presidents Day), Tuesday, February 16 and Friday, April 2.

For a detailed explanation of the factors considered and the process used to evaluate the road conditions, school officials ask residents to refer to the Inclement Weather Procedures document linked above.

FLUVANNA COUNTY SCHOOLS

Fluvanna County has also announced its make-up days. Students will attend school on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 15.

The other make-up days will be on March 12 and May 24.

For crying out loud, Ludacris is a rapper not a word! Ludicrous is how it's spelled. And FYI - capitalization and good grammar is still required in the adult business world! Anonymous, you are right, these comments are a sad statement about the whole situation!

All of these comments are a sad statement about the teacherr, students, and the schools. This is why I homeschool my children.

I agree with the other students who have spoken. All the material we'll need to learn wil be taught befoe the SOLs. This dramatic decision by the county has shocked me. Cutting into June like that is crazy. There is a certain amount of days students must stay in school, but not all those days are needed. Let's say that we need to stay in school for 180 days, we'll only need 150-170. After the SOLs, we either review or have fun. Some kids don't even go to school in June, and their parents let them. After the SOLs, no one takes school seriously. They spend hours on those long tests, after that they just rest. By June everyone will be too tired to even think about school. Many will have plans and go on vacation. I personally will not be at school during those days. I'll be too busy at home playing on my xbox 360. I can't wait to leave home and go to college. Atleast then i'll be able to leave this county and go to a much better one.
