Red Cross will no longer be collecting blood donations at its Charlottesville office.

Starting next week, the central location for blood collections will be in Fredericksburg. Tim Wyckoff of the Central Virginia chapter of Red Cross said this has been a year long phase-out of the Charlottesville location.

For now, all blood donations can be made at one of the mobile units that will be at Fashion Square Mall.

Wyckoff also notes that the summer months are when blood supplies are at their lowest because fewer people are in town to donate and more people are active resulting in more injuries.
