The Charlottesville Police Department recently launched CrimeView Community; a web based application designed by The Omega Group that allows citizens to view reported incidents and crime activity in their local community.

All residents can now easily access and map out incidents occurring anywhere in the City of Charlottesville through a web browser located on the Charlottesville Police Department web page. Using the many options and features of this website, users can search for incidents and crimes that may have occurred near a specific address, a well-known landmark or location, or within a certain geographic boundary.

CrimeView Community also offers the ability to view reports about incidents and crime and to print a copy of the map.

This tool provides an important public service by giving citizens access to information that they may ordinarily request directly from the Charlottesville Police Department staff. Creating self reliance among community members and alleviating some of the Department’s staff work load can be of great benefit to a department and its community outreach, as well as staff productivity.

Living in Cville 36 years and yes lived on Orangedale for 10 years our furniture was arranged so that if a stray bullet came through the front of the house we would be safe. The master bedroom was used as a study and we slept in the back bedrooms. The move came after 47 bullets that was targeted at a dealer rittled there cars and house and by the grace of GOD the little girl and her grandfather decided to go to bed shortly after 9pm they would of been on the couch and would of been shot. The idiot who lived there went insede and got his gun and started firing which caused the people across the street in danger. Afew nights before that a cocktail was thrown in his van and exploted breaking several residents windows. We had a security system in the home but it only warned of intruders. There are areas in this town that are avoided by people due to the high rate of criminal activity and dealing drugs. Face is out of jail and back to Orangedale so beware his enemies have not forgotten him

Wow, Karen...that's a lot of anger for a secretary at Fluvanna school. I sure hope that's not the kind of outburst everyone there runs into because you don't understand the context of something. Look through my post again, and you'll see at no point did I call anyone in those areas thugs or say they should be hanged (as you did me). I simply said thug crimes, according to the subject of this news story, are prevalent there. Take a xanex, sweetie, and chill.

Unfortunately I have to drive through this area everyday. I am not a cheap "non paying parking people," and I also drive down Cherry Ave as well which is no better than Prospect. Trust me, I know my options. I believe one person was thrown in a well in Louisa, and as for the stabbings, well that can happen on any given night in your area. Lets not even bring into count the numerous drug violations, assaults, etc. in your area.
