SPCA Rummage Store

July 13, 2007

The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is opening a new SPCA Rummage Store (located at 943 Preston Avenue next to Martin Hardware).

The store held a "Sneak Preview" grand opening Friday, July 13th. Ongoing shopping store hours will be Tuesday through Saturday 10:00am to 6:00pm and there is a one-time donation fee of $5, but all the money goes to help homeless animals.

"People have said to me -- gosh! thank you for opening this store cuz now I can clean out my closet, you know. So, I think we've motivated people to get rid -- donate some really nice things," said Sue Mantz, Director of Thrift Operations.

Shoppers will be able to find a wide variety of items at the store including: furniture, electronic equipment, computers, children's clothing and toys.

There are also many treasures in the boutique sections -- antiques, designer clothing and jewelry.

The SPCA accepts donations at the store Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am- 1:00pm. Donated items should be clean and in good working order.

Volunteers are also needed at the store 7 days a week, and will receive store credit for their time.

The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that provides a safe environment for the lost, abandoned, and homeless animals of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, and places them in good homes.
