Fairfax Bomb Squad Responds To Home Explosion

July 15, 2007

Fairfax County police and firefighters are on the scene of an explosion at a home in Centreville Sunday.

Captain Chris Schaff of the fire department says no one was hurt, but as of 5:00pm Sunday, a fire continues to rage. He says officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and from the county bomb squad are also on the scene.

Schaff says a man was working with chemicals in the garage when the explosion occurred. The fire from the explosion spread to the home.

Schaff says there are numerous chemicals including fertilizer still in the garage. He says authorities fear there could be more explosions.
