Storms Knock Power Out

Strong storms made their way into the area around 2 p.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Albemarle, Orange and Louisa counties and the City of Charlottesville. The entire area was under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Strong winds and hail were reported with the storm. Trees and power lines were knocked down.

Dominion Virginia Power reported nearly 8,000 people were without power in the Charlottesville region.

Crews continue to work to restore power to those without it.
