Severe weather that traveled through our area Monday is being blamed for a sinkhole that reopened on Route 29.

Officials say that the two southbound lanes of Route 29 near Hollymead will be closed until the problem has been fixed. VDOT has had problems with the hole in the past, leading to traffic backups and road closures.

Officials say that Monday's rain and wind added to the erosion causing it to collapse. The road is expected to back open before rush hour tomorrow morning.

You are right about that. It should have been left alone. Just goes to show, money is more important than preserving our land.

I tell ya, its a sign; a sign that the area shouldn't have been tuned into a yuppie oasis in what was once peaceful country.
