A group that supports dredging of the Rivanna Reservoir said a new study proves there is more water in the reservoir than experts had thought.

Charlottesville activist Bob Fenwick is teaming up with former city councilor Kevin Lynch to explain the results of the latest dredging feasibility study.

Pointing to graphs and charts, they said removing the sediment would restore the reservoir to its original capacity, providing enough water for the next 50 years.

The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority doesn't want to dredge and instead wants to build a new dam to create a larger water supply.

Another prime example of otherwise worthless human beings justifying their existence as bureaucrats. The only goal of a bureaucrat is to grow(tax money) their agency.

Citizens for A Sustainable Water Plan will hold a forum March 14th at 2pm at City Space to present the data to show that dredging can provide all the water we need for 50 years at a fraction of the cost of a new dam. Please go to our web-site for more information about dredging and our community water plan. Cvillewater.info

is there *ever* going to be a decision made about this, or are they going to let the findings of yet another study expire because they don't like it? water rates in this city are already ridiculous, and i can't see the rwsa not raising rates again to pay for their new dam that they don't need. just like everything else in this town: study after study after study. still no decision. more wasted taxpayer money. it seems as though they've spent more money on studies than it would have cost to just dredge the reservoir...
