UPDATE:
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a man they say allegedly set his girlfriend on fire.
Cordrick Lewis Dade, 36, was arrested in a wooded area near Swift Run Road and Amicus Road located in Greene County. After being processed and questioned about the case, Dade was was transported to the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
The victim, Yolanda Chambers, remains in the hospital.
Neighbors said they could hear Chambers' screams from their homes. One of those neighbors, Yvonne Williams, said she used a blanket to put out the flames that engulfed Chambers.
"She held my hands and she squeezed them and asked me to take her shirt off," Williams said. "But I couldn't because I knew her skin would come completely off her body."
Dade is also suspected of setting the house on fire.
Williams woke up to screams Monday morning and saw Chambers covered in flames. Even after she put them out, Williams knew Chambers wasn't well.
"Her body was still burning because you could smell her skin burning," Williams said.
Police believe Dade, Chamber's boyfriend, is responsible for covering Chambers in gasoline and setting her on fire. Merle Williams, a friend of Dade's, said he is shocked.
"Last time I talked to him was two weeks ago, and he seemed fine," Merle Williams said.
Though neighbors said the couple fought constantly, they didn't believe there were any incidents of domestic violence. The couple also has two young children who weren't harmed in the blaze.
The landlord of the apartment complex said his building is destroyed. There were two other people who live in the building who were unharmed, but said he doesn't know where those people will go.

A Greene County woman was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center early Monday morning after she ran from a residence on Main Street in Stanardsville.
Witnesses say the woman was on fire in the middle of the street. Warrants of arrest have been issued for a Cordrick Lewis Dade. Dade is wanted for felony arson and felony aggravated malicious wounding.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 7:15am Monday morning about a woman and house being on fire at 71 Main Street located in the town of Stanardsville.
First arriving units found heavy smoke and fire coming from the home as well as a severely burned female. Officials say the woman apparently ran out of the residence and was on fire.
Stanardsville and Ruckersville fire crews responded to the blaze. They say the fire left extensive damage in the rear end of the structure, which CBS19 crews say was a single residence building that had been sub-divided among multiple families.
The fire displaced three or four families.
Main Street in Stanardsville was closed to all traffic, and Small Steps Preschool in Stanardsville opened one hour later Monday morning because of its proximity to the fire.
Anyone with any information in regards to his whereabouts should contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at 434-985-2222, the Greene County Crime Stoppers phone line at 434-989- 2110 or their local law enforcement agency.
