Report Shows Virginia Public College Prices Rising

A new report shows that the cost of Virginia public colleges and universities are rising.

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia says that undergraduate students will be paying, on average, an additional $452 year in tuition and mandatory fees in 2007-2008.

It's a 6.8% increase from the previous academic year. The average total cost for an instate undergraduate student living on campus this year at a public college or university will be $13,992.

That figure is estimated to be 40% of per capita disposable income a measure of college affordability that is on the rise.
