Sunday was the 20th annual Jefferson Cup road race, organized by the Monticello Velo Club. The course ran through southern Albemarle County off of Route 20 and Carter's Mountain Road.

The event attracted cyclists from all over the region, who say they look forward to it every year.

"This one gets most of the strong groups from the Mid-Atlantic," said Amanda Watson, the winner of the top women's race. "There's always a good turn out. The men's pretty much always fill up. I don't think the women's race completely filled up. But, usually we get pretty close to the limit."

A portion of the race proceeds will go toward the Scottsville Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Male and female competitors were broken up into different divisions and categories based on age and ability. You can find all the RESULTS HERE.
