Monday night, Charlottesville City Council decided to invest $850,000 to preserve affordable housing.
Council members approved the hefty loan for the Dogwood Housing Project.
By doing so, this will maintain 58 houses scattered throughout the community. Something that the Director of Planning and Development Services said will help combat the problem of affordable housing in the community.
The total cost for the properties is $4.9 million, the rest of the funding will be from private investment partners.
