Pentagon Officers Facing Discipline For Endorsing Religious Group

August 7, 2007

The Army and the Air Force say that seven top officers, including four generals, could be disciplined for violating ethics rules by helping a Christian group produce a fundraising video.

The Pentagon inspector general says that officers, while in uniform at the Pentagon, made comments expressing military approval and support for the evangelical group Christian Embassy.

The report says that none of the officers asked for or received approval from their superiors, and it recommends that "appropriate corrective action" be considered against the officers.

Christian Embassy holds prayer meetings each Wednesday morning
at the Pentagon. It was founded by the late Bill Bright, who also founded Campus Crusade for Christ.
