Some say beauty is pain, and many people in our area agree.

But, Dr. Bonnie Straka, of Signature Medical Spa, is hoping to make your next trip to the dermatologist seem like a spa treatment.

Dr. Straka, is the mastermind behind a massive construction project off Berkmar Drive that will give Albemarle County a serious face lift.

"The intrest has been so overwhelming as this dynamic industry grows not just here in Charlottesville but nationwide we've actually run out of space," said Dr. Straka.

Developers are overhauling the old Planet Fun building to make way for 8,400 square feet of luxury: an upscale medical spa that only city dwellers in Los Angeles and New York City have at their disposal.

"It's really going to be a lively addition to Charlottesville," said Cass Kawecki, Director of Marketing and Sales at Stonehaus.

They hope the spa and other high-end offices will set the tone for future developments in the area.

"The trend not only nationally but in Charlottesville is towards mixed use pedestrian walkable really high quality integrated building development," said Kawecki.

These plans if brought to fruition will transform a typical doctor's office into a lap of luxury.

The Albemarle Dermatology and Signature Medical Spa is expected to be built by early 2008.
