August 17, 2007
Due to the drought warning declarations made by the Charlottesville City Council some area pools will be closed as part of a water management plan.
Starting August 17th.
-McIntire and Forest Hills Pools will be CLOSED for the season
-Belmont Spray Ground WILL CLOSE until the drought warning is lifted or end of season (October 7th), which ever comes first.
Water will be drawn with assistance from Parks Division from McIntire and Forest Hills pools to keep Washington Park and Meade Pools operational through September 3rd.
-Washington Park will take priority given that the integrity of the pool is better and that person per hour capacity level is higher.
-Washington Park will not operate the water slide due to the high volume that this feature uses.
-Meade will remain open as long as possible..
-Smith Pool is closed and Crow Pool is OPEN until September 4, 2007
On September 4th:
-Washington Park Pool will CLOSE for the season
-Smith Pool will OPEN.
-Crow Pool will CLOSE until drought warning is lifted and water can be drawn from Crow Pool to keep Smith Pool filled while supply lasts.
Currently Greenleaf Spray Ground is still under construction, however, once completed we will need to turn the system on for a short period of time to be certain it is operating correctly.
-Greenleaf Spray Ground will remain closed until the drought warning is lifted or end of season (October 7th), which ever comes first.
