Virginia Tech Panel Asks For More Time On Report

August 21, 2007

The Virginia Tech Panel, appointed by Governor Kaine to study the April 16th shootings, asked for more time Monday to complete its report.

The report was originally scheduled to be made public this week. The group met for 11 hours Monday in Charlottesville. Gerald Massengill, the panel chairman, called the discussions "really productive conversations."

They said that they need more time to finalize the report and will give it to Governor Kaine next week. Panel members still plan to brief families of victims of the shootings on the report's contents Wednesday.

The report will be reviewed by Governor Kaine before it is released to the public.
