Report Shows Large Increase In Virginia Foreclosures

A new report shows that foreclosures in Virginia increased more than 300% in July compared to same month from a year ago.

Virginia recorded 1,959 foreclosure filings during July. That's one for every 1,621 households, according to the report by online marketplace RealtyTrac. Nationwide, foreclosure filings have risen 93% from a year ago.

There were nearly 180,000 filings, or one for every 693 households. Nevada had the nation's highest foreclosure rate and Vermont had the lowest. Virginia ranked 21st.
