August 29, 2007

UVa has won the first ever "Emerging Frontiers" National Science Foundation grant for musculoskeletal regeneration.

A UVa research group will work on a first of its kind $2 million project searching for methods for the regeneration of musculoskeletal tissues. The group will look at innovative ways to engineer new material surfaces that will allow a range of the tissue to grow.

Researchers say that the study will provide important information about regenerative medicine in the successful treatment of patients.
