Veterans of Foreign Wars commemorated Memorial Day with a ceremony at the Albemarle County Office Building.
Military veterans and their families listened to the national anthem, played by the Charlottesville High School band.
A wreath laying and a rifle salute followed. It's an annual event at this location, and the veterans say it's gratifying to see so many people support them.
"[It allows us] to reflect upon the sacrifices that have been made by veterans from all our wars and the sacrifices that they'll continue to make," Capt. Erik Lewis of the U.S. Army said.
The ceremony was sponsored by VFW Post 1827.
