New Information Released In Fatal Crash

September 4, 2007

Virginia State police say that two of the three teenagers that were killed in a car crash were riding illegally in the bed of the truck.

Sergeant Michael Conroy says that the third victim was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car in the crash on Sunday in Carroll County, about two miles north of the North Carolina border.

Conroy says Allison Rebecca Turman of Willis and Ashley Leonard of Cana, both 14, were riding in bed of the 2000 Dodge Dakota that overturned and caught fire. Three other teenagers in the truck were injured.

Police say that an unlicensed 15-year-old was the driver. Authorities have not decided whether to file charges.
