Fountain Found Guilty of Capital Murder of Pregnant Girlfriend

September 7, 2007

Friday a Louisa County jury found Irvin Fountain guilty of capital murder. Fountain was convicted of killing his pregnant girlfriend.

Prosecutors say that Fountain shot his girlfriend, Shantay Wheeler, four times back in 2001 after she refused to get an abortion. Fountain reportedly wanted to get back together with his wife and Wheeler her unborn child stood in the way.

Fountain has a violent past. He was sentenced back in 2001 for assaulting and abducting his wife. He served two years and nine months for that crime. He was not charged with Wheeler's murder until summer of 2006.

Fountain faces life in prison for the murder.
