Rescue crews in Louisa County got the call sometime around noon to a waterfront house along Kentucky Springs Road that there had been a possible drowning. It happened in a creek in the Lake Anna area.

Apparently some kids were being pulled along the water in a tube. A couple of them fell off and, even though they were wearing life jackets, their 20 year old relative jumped in to pull them out. Unfortunately he wasn't wearing any kind of life vest and he was pulled away with the current.

Crews arrived quickly and began searching the water with boats and dive teams. The bottom of that water, however, was very muddy and it ended up hampering the rescue effort.

We spoke with a cousin of the missing man and he says the family was down visiting from Maryland. The man's immediate family went back to an area hotel for the night, while friends and extended family holed up inside the house.

Crews will be back on the water at 8 a.m. Sunday, at which point the Louisa County Sheriff is expected to have an official statement.
