Local Police Investigate Downtown Shooting

September 9, 2007

Charlottesville Police are investigating an overnight shooting near the downtown area.

Officials say shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, three people in the Water Street parking lot were shot at while sitting in their car.

The three victims were Zinele Brown, 28 years old from Albemarle County, Jarrette Jackson, age 20, from Charlottesville, and an unnamed 19-year-old male.

All three victims were transported to UVa Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Two of the three victims have since been treated and released from the hospital.

Police do not believe this incident is related to other downtown mall incidents.

In fact, this is the fourth time Jackson has been shot in last two and a half years. His lack of cooperation with police has seriously hindered investigations of those crimes.

Anyone with information in asked to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
