Two men are recovering in the hospital after they were struck by a van while trying to cross 9th Street SW just a block down from Cherry Avenue.
Charlottesville Police say it happened right before 9:00 p.m. in a poorly-lit stretch of road.
We're told the two men are both black, one in his 30s, one in his 40s. They were trying to cross the street in an area with no crosswalk when they were hit.
Both were transported to UVa. Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
