Democrat Mark Warner will announce that he's a candidate Thursday, according to a spokesperson.
But it still isn't confirmed yet whether he will be running for the Senate next year or as governor in 2009. Monica Dixon, who heads Warner's political action committee, Forward Together, says the time and place for Warner's announcement have not been finalized.
Political sources close to Warner say they expect that Warner will run for Senate. Warner would replace outgoing Senator John Warner. But they also say that Warner finds it difficult to "close the door" on another four years in Richmond.
