Police Make Stolen and Forged Check Arrest

September 14, 2007

Police in Waynesboro arrested a man who they say tried to pass a check believed to have been stolen and forged.

Police arrested 40-year-old Michael Lynn McLean around 11 a.m. Thursday. Officials say McLean entered a bank in Waynesboro Thursday and tried to pass a check for more than a $1,000 with a North Carolina I.D.

Authorities say the check was similar to a string of stolen checks passed in Augusta County and Lexington for more than $24,000. McLean is being held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.
