Some say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but now that Fall is right around the corner, the warm days and cold nights are just what the doctor ordered for apple growers in our area.

Carter Mountain Orchard, one of many local apple orchards across the commonwealth, is a one stop shop for people who want to grab a hold of America's favorite fruit.

You can amble through 100 acres of apple trees toting a basket and filling up on the best golden delicious, Macintosh and gala apples money can buy.

If you're not too keen on hunting for the apples Carter Mountain Orchard sells fresh-baked apple pies, apple cider and apple butter. The bakery also touts its famous apple cider donuts.

Make your way up Carter Mountain for Apple Harvest Festival on October 6th & 7th and 13th and 14th.
