Woman Appears In Court For Attempted Murder Of Mother

The woman accused of trying to murder her mother in an assisted living facility appeared in court Monday morning.

Phyllis Powell Spangler appeared for a bond hearing at Albemarle Juvenile and Domestic Court. The hearing was continued until October and she will remain in jail.

She is accused of trying to murder her 94-year-old mother at the Laurels of Charlottesville Assisted Living Facililty last month. A staff worker witnessed the incident. The mother was found with brushing on her face suggesting that she might have been smothered.
