State Legislator Hit By Car

September 17, 2007

A state legislator was hit by a car on Monday after trying to cross the street in downtown Richmond.

Delegate Kirk Cox of Colonial Heights was hit at the intersection of Ninth and Broad Streets as he crossed the street heading to the General Assembly Building.

Cox had no visible injuries and after being treated by ambulance medics, he went inside to a meeting with the House Appropriations Committee. Shortly after going to the meeting Cox said that he did not feel well and walked to the Medical College of Virginia hospital about a block away.

Delegate Jim Scott said he saw Cox sitting down moments after the accident. He said Cox told him the impact flipped him into the air.
