Former NFL star Michael Vick will face state dogfighting charges. Surry County's top prosecutor, Gerald Pointdexter, went before a grand jury Tuesday seeking dogfighting indictments against Vick and three co-defendants.
Tuesday Vick and three co-defendants were indicted on state charges for beating or killing or causing dogs to fight other dogs and engaging in or promoting dogfighting. The grand jury did not indict him on eight
counts of animal cruelty.
If convicted Vick could face more prison time than in the federal case. Vick pleaded guilty to dogfighting charges in federal court this summer.
