Clinical Research Company Leaving Northern Virginia

September 25, 2007

A clinical research company is moving its headquarters from northern Virginia to Raleigh, North Carolina and taking nearly 500 jobs with it.

Reston-based PRA International has more than 2,800 employees conducting clinical trials on drugs that treat cancer, cardiovascular diseases and other disorders.

PRA officials say the move to Wake County, North Carolina, comes
because more than 40 biotechnology and drug companies are located
in the Raleigh area.

North Carolina is also providing PRA potentially more than $7.5 million in financial incentives over nine years if the company meets benchmarks in employment, production and helping improve disadvantaged counties.
