Charlottesville Police are investigating a crash involving one of their police cruisers.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Elliott Avenue and Sixth Street Southeast. Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck, consumed by the female driver of the other car.

Police took the male police officer to the University of Virginia Medical Center. The woman driving the other car was taken by ambulance.

Police have not said whether charges will be filed.
