AAA Predicts Fewer Va. Travelers for Thanksgiving

Nov. 22, 2013

AAA is predicting fewer Virginians will be traveling during the Thanksgiving holiday this year.

The auto-club projects that 1.2 million Virginians will travel 50 miles or more from home over the holiday weekend. The auto club says that's a decrease of 1.6 percent from 2012.

Those who do hit the road for the holiday will find gas prices around Virginia at 2010 levels. AAA says drivers could find gas at prices below $3 a gallon in locations such as Danville, Harrisonburg and Roanoke.

Statewide, pump prices are averaging $3.15 a gallon, down a dime from 2012.
