A new game piece is coming to Monopoly, which means one of the old ones will be retired.
Hasbro, the makers of the board game, has set up a site where you can vote for which piece you want to pass Go and which to send to Jail.
AAA Mid-Atlantic is hoping motorists will cast their vote for the race car token. The race car is one of the earliest Monopoly game tokens, introduced in 1935 and popular ever since.
“Without the race car, how else are you going to get to the shore?" jokes Martha Mitchell Meade, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic, noting the game board is based on Atlantic City street names. "The race car is the only automotive token in the Monopoly game. Millions of motorists will be heartbroken if it disappears.”
AAA Mid-Atlantic says it is committed to keeping the race car token in the game.
