Accident on 250 Bypass Tied Up Traffic

June 25, 2014

A two vehicle accident on the 250 Bypass caused traffic to back up Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred near the exit for Ivy Road in Albemarle County. Lanes in both directions were closed for a while as emergency responders worked the scene.

Officials say a driver in the southbound lane crossed the median and hit an oncoming car.

Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

One lane in each direction of the bypass reopened shortly before 5 p.m. All lanes were cleared and open to traffic at around 5:40 p.m.

The crash is under investigation.
