It was a ladies' night in Charlottesville featuring fashion, tradition, and health.

"Ladies Night...An African Attire Fashion & Health Updates" took place at the Jefferson School African-American Heritage Center in Charlottesville.

More than a hundred women saw a fashion show with traditional African fashion and learned about breast cancer, all for free. Many of the women wore traditional African attire as well.

"It's about women. This is a women's only event and it's about taking care of ourselves and having some fun. And so we combine the health aspect along with the fashion show," said Jacklene Martin, Director of Community Benefit at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Martha Jefferson Starr Hill Health Center and the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center sponsored the event.

"It's just amazing to see all the women here...The models are wonderful," said Martin. "We're just really having a great time out here tonight."

The event was part of the 24th annual Chihamba African American Cultural Arts Festival. That festival continues Saturday morning Washington Park starting at 10 am. That festival and health fair tomorrow is also free. For more information, visit Chihamba's website here.
