Albemarle Co. May Add More Red-Light Cameras

Aug. 1, 2014

Albemarle County could be adding red-light cameras to the intersection of Greenbrier Drive and Route 29.

The Board of Supervisors are looking into expanding the Photosafe Program.

The red-light cameras at the intersection of Rio Road and Route 29 have captured more than 24,000 potential tickets since they began the program.

Staff says they have looked into accident reports from across the county and decided the Greenbrier Dr. intersection would benefit from the cameras.

Photosafe has already generated almost a quarter of a million dollars in ticket revenue for Albemarle Co.
