The Albemarle County Police Department is gearing up for its annual National Night Out event.
The event is to offer an opportunity for the police and community to come together and foster positive relationships.
This year, the police department's dive team will be on-hand for the first time. Other events include demonstrations from the K-9 Unit, a bike rodeo, and a Texting While Driving Simulator.
"This is a police sponsored event but it's really for the entire community," says Carter Johnson with the Albemarle Co. Police Department. "We want everyone to be able to come together and learn more about the police department and different events and activities taking place in our area and community. We also really want to be able to demonstrate some of the different tools and groups we have here in the department."
National Night Out is being held at the Old Trail Village in Crozet from 5 PM to 9 PM on August 6.
