Albemarle Co. Police: Rape Suspect Turns Himself In

Edgar Edward Swingler was arrested on Sunday and charged with one count of felony rape.

A man wanted for a felony rape offense turned himself in to police over the weekend.

Edgar Edward Swingler, 26-years-old from Charlottesville, was arrested on Sunday and charged with one count of felony rape. Police say the incident occurred on Thursday, October 3rd in the 2300 block of Peyton Drive.

Officials say the victim was known to the suspect and police were called shortly after the incident.

The investigation led detectives to Swingler, who turned himself in to the Magistrate's Office on Sunday.

Swingler is currently being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
